Book of Shadows - Reference Shelf

Page revision III, March 21, 2000
At any rate, there's a couple of references here, and in one instance especially, the reference is huge and my fingers got tired so I decided not to type the entire fragging dictionary. If you have a problem with that, you type it and send it to me. I, so far, don't have a real FAQ yet because nobody's really been asking me questions short of "does that crap really work" etc etc. The wiccan rede is a must-see, as it basically outlines the entire craft you will (or won't) be messing with. It, in it's purest form, is a complete rule book for the initiated. If you don't understand it, get it explained to you. It's important. I can't stress that enough. For starters, I'd like to point out that the wiccan religion is based mostly on balance and the worship of European gods and the moon is a big one. It is based on the belief of the chinese yin and yang (to a point.) There's a God and a Goddess, who're mentioned a lot, and as you've likely noticed, the goddess is really the one who is worshipped the most. Often, if you have religious convictions, the worshippage is interchangeable with your own religion. (For instance, if you are a devout christian, you can pledge an altar to God, or one of the archangels, or saints, and instead of 'by our lady', 'by the moon's grace', make it something like 'by the will of God'. All the lines in spells are interchangeable, provided they are spoken in rhyme. Heck, even in some instances, rhyme is not entirely necessary either. (A ha! Read the rede, it'll tell you that.) The object of magic isn't to force people against their will, or to hurt them, it's more to draw them. Magic is like an irresistible invitation, it should be used to draw, not force, people into a happy role. For instance, if I'm POed at my boyfriend, I won't write a spell to turn him into a newt, but the spell (that I actually did write), will involve 'knowing how you treated me', 'walking in my shoes', or something to that essence. If something is meant to happen, magic will make it happen smoother. If it is not meant to happen, the spell's effects will wear off. There's no two ways about it. It is your own secret weapon, to drive away evil, protect the innocent, draw love to you, bring balance and a better control to your life, and maybe have a little fun on the way.
